Forty per cent increase in Fed Friday participants
31-Mar-2010Marketing Officer, Joyce Khan, reported a massive forty per cent increase in the number of people signing up to host “Fed Friday” Dinners, compared to last year, bringing in well over £5,500 with late donations still coming in.
“We set up this campaign last year with the aim of establishing Fed Friday as a key date in people’s annual calendars . This year’s growth in the number of participants is extremely encouraging . Clearly Fed Friday is catching on, and with it, an increase in awareness of our services, and in donations.
I think Fed Friday’s success is down to the fact that it is so simple – you just invite family or friends for Friday Night dinner as usual and ask them to give a donation to The Federation of Jewish Services, rather than a gift. There’s no extra work involved for the host or hostess and no extra expense for the guests.
This year 112 households signed up, and people who could not manage to hold a dinner on the official Fed Friday date, February 26th, chose to host other special meals including Purim seudas and seders!”
State Fayre proprietors and Federation of Jewish Services supporters, Jeff and Pauline Rosenfield, backed the event by baking novelty red bakewell tarts, with a percentage of profits going to FJS.
Money was also raised through the sale of dinner draw tickets at £5 each. The prize, a fabulous four course Friday night dinner for 12 people, was donated by I & M Caterers. The draw winner wished to remain anonymous and very indly opted to donate the prize back to The Federation of Jewish Services to benefit a family currently using services.
